My practice, always evolving, is increasingly revealing itself to be concerned with the relationship between permeability, vulnerability and connection. This has emerged through the processes of making, alongside a growing understanding of the links between my role as a psychotherapist, working with couples in relationship, and my artistic practice. While the pond remains an important point of reference, perhaps it is becoming less of a subject and more a way of thinking about the porous boundaries that exist between self & other, beauty & decay, and containment & release - boundaries that directly affect and make connection possible.

Living & Working in Cambridge.

Working with a variety of media including raw linen, stains, translucent glazes, 3D elements and suspended fibres, I allow the inherent qualities of the materials to shape the image such that the paintings do not simply describe permeability; they are made through permeable processes of absorption, erosion and emergence. Rather than imposing a strict composition, I am seeking an ongoing dialogue with the canvas. By remaining open to that conversation, I hope to invite viewers into the spaces where separation and connection co exist, where uncertainty, fragility and transformation are held in balance - where permeability is not simply a state of exposure but the condition through which new possibilities and moments of unexpected luminosity can occur.
